Description of the picture:
Sibiryachka - Vasily Ivanovich Surikov. 1909. Oil on canvas. 88x77
Woman in front of the mirror. This simple story inspired many generations of artists. Each found in it something of their own, special, invisible to others.
The author presents to the viewer a sample of true Russian female beauty. The puffy, thick-haired, blue-eyed beauty carefully examines her reflection, assessing the extent to which she is going dark blue fabric, designed for a new outfit. Reddish hair, white body, plump lips, deep eyes, full breasts - everything in the presented model attracts the artist, he frankly admires his heroine, who embodies the ideal of Siberian beauty.
The combination of brown tones and rich blue color creates a cozy, warm, calm atmosphere of work. The calm and simple background of the picture is intended to emphasize the whiteness of the body, to set off the blue fabric that fits the camp of the heroine. The master was able to perfectly convey the texture of the fabric, matte softness of the skin, shine of thick hair.
The heroine looks in the mirror incredulously, critically evaluating herself from the outside. There is a feeling of a certain theatrical plot. The author seemed to have looked at this scene, remaining invisible for the heroine.
