Kiev Aviation Museum - a description of the museum exhibits, Kiev

  • A country: Ukraine
  • City: Kiev
  • Address: Medova vul., 1
In 2003 In Kiev, the Aviation Museum was opened. It is important to note that in Ukraine it is the only museum of this scale that covers an area of twenty hectares in size. The exhibits of the museum are various aviation techniques, from civil to marine. Also in the museum are also exhibits of air defense. It is important to note that more and more new exhibits, deregistered from various aerodromes, constantly arrive at the museum. At first glance, this museum seems to be some sort of proving ground on which everything can be found: from the passenger sides to air defense missiles.
At the entrance to the museum visitors are greeted TU-104. The uniqueness of this exhibit lies in its number - 001. Up to 1958, this aircraft served for the good of the fatherland, after which it was transferred to the study and training of NAU students. The cabin of this aircraft is also unique in its own way, since it has the first VIP seats on which government officials of that time sat. But the TU-104 is not the only aircraft with a unique number, there are also IL-18 and IL-86 with board numbers 01.01. The most interesting thing is that the administration of the museum was sent a thanks from the design bureau for saving, in their opinion, the destroyed side.
Especially breathtaking is the military equipment located in the museum. Nowadays, she just stands peacefully on the lawn, and it is so hard to imagine that she once amazed with her strength and simply frightened her with her abilities. For example, the MIG-25 fighter, to this day, has a record height of thirty-seven kilometers. As recently became clear in the Kiev Aviation Museum, presented a unique collection of fighters of the TU-22 series, which were capable of making a nuclear attack. Next to the sides, they hit their greatness with X-22 missiles, which are capable of destroying the whole city in a matter of seconds with one blow. In addition to the usual tourists, the museum is also visited by people whose fates were directly connected with this technique. At one of the museum sites there is an airplane that was used in the shooting of the legendary film “Only Old Men Go to Battle”.
It does not sound strange, but there are very few exhibits from the Kiev Antonov Design Bureau in Kiev museums of aviation equipment. In the collection of all three, which includes the famous "Kukuruznik". Soon, the museum expects a new replenishment of the five sides, among which will be the giant aircraft "Ruslan".
Unlike the rest of the museum, all the exhibits can be touched and photographed with them. The only thing in order to make a memorable photo, you will need to pay five hryvnia, but this memory is worth it. It is possible to even visit some of the cars and inspect them from the inside, but for this, again, an additional charge of five hryvnias is charged.
